Both of these stores have their own fabric fabrication stores so they can keep their costs down. Between the two there are about 20 stores that sell already dyed lace to match LOL.

We live an hour away and when we go to Dallas my husband says he needs to take survival food. I can literally stay in a 3 block radius for 8 hours and not get bored at all.

You really can't dye those dark colors. I can make it out of any fabric, but this mom insists on superstretch.

I get what you're saying that "designers" have to deal with all the selling and stuff like that, but everybody has to deal with that. It's not only them.

It's not rocket science. Help isn't bad, but claiming other people's work as your own is wrong and also misleading to your customers as well. Teresa Mallouky and the lady from Cinderella fashions must be magical.

As far as I'm concerned they are the only people I know that make their own clothes AND they are big name designers. Seriously, if you want to be a designers that's fine, but at least make your own clothes.

She uses seamstresses too. She sews some things but not alot. Teresa is not the only employee of Lil Louky's Designs. Cinderella Fashions is not one employee, Rena does sew most of her garments but does have help from others that rhinestone and sew her skirts for her.

Like I said, you can't do it all by yourself and be a big named designer. There are no big named designers that do not have help from someone.

You have to look like this way, the name is the business and the business as a whole gets the credit not an individual person.

You can be a low key designer that builds a decent clientel and does it all. Even low key designers are sometimes overwhelmed with work and ask others for help.

Not having to deal with paypal and moms is trade enough for me to not get credit for work. I don't care if you are the big thing out there, you still have to.

So I dont know what I am doing or not doing. And also, when sewing with organza, when i do the rolled hem with fishing line, you can just pull it apart.

And i did an underskirt for just a regular cotton skirt, rectangle instead of circle and the seams sewn together, just rip apart.

Get someone to make a banner for you and post them on the main voy boards. I don't want to tell you how to price them, but you need to at least double that price.

The pm's are visual. Most can't imagine what they want. They want to see it. If you can make them drool over a well designed suit they will buy it.

Put your price right on the banner. That way they won't bother you if they can't pay that price. It only take about 10 minutes to post it on about 10 of the main boards.

Just trying to help. I have a basic Singer serger. It will say right needle There are settings there. Make sure the your threads are snug into wear the dials are and also check your needle.

The gave me a number of a lady named Myrna. I was over booked so I asked her to make some suits for me. I ordered them but didn't like the way the butt came up over the cheeks.

Your gonna love this one! I gave her name to Tina Marshall and she ordered some, she wasn't into the swimwear that much at the time so she was friends with Sandy Henry and Sandy needed to make some money so Tina gave her Myrnas number and Sandy has been using her every since.

Sandy really started making some big money so now Tina has trouble getting very many orders from Myrna. I think Myrna's prices have went up since then, but not that much.

Bring that shit on…. How did that ludicrously long reign at the top even happen? Is it finally over? Forever in the media spotlight and with an army of fans hungry for new material, one might think that the English singer-songwriter would have been under a huge amount of pressure to deliver the goods with her new longplayer, Ceremonials.

In fact, compared to her first album, the opposite was true. People really went for how I looked or my personality because that was the only thing that was there.

There was no album and to be picked apart like that before you have any music to stand by is terrifying. It was a baptism of fire. This time round, with a clearer idea of what I was doing, it was almost easier.

They had all these amazing drum patterns that I could get excited by and Paul would have these great chords. They made it easy to get back into the swing of things.

When we got back into the studio, everyone was just excited to be there. This album is unapologetically huge. Images come and go and thoughts go on a tangent.

Aside from its enormity, the other noticeable thing about the new album is that it is much more cohesive than her debut offering.

The journey across the globe is one that Welch is excited to make, as she has happy memories of her time here. The fanbase I have over there is amazing.

I absolutely loved the [] Laneway tour. The first day we arrived, we ended up going to the Big Day Out party and stayed up all night.

We found The Horrors and they took us on a tour of Sydney at seven in the morning. For better or for worse, the first album was always.

But I think, for us, we just want to make music that we like. For the past six months, the band have actually been living in Berlin to manage their overseas commitments.

We had no expectation that anyone would know who we were — but we had people bringing us albums and shirts to sign and recognising the tunes that we played.

It was really weird. We actually went back and played a gig there six weeks later and that was just nuts. Their last three albums have reached platinum sales in their native New Zealand.

In , the band toured the country with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra. We like flying under the radar and doing our own thing. It was a great experience, though.

The years between have seen the band experience many line-up changes as well as a handful of spikes and drops in popularity. However, the official count of their studio albums depends on who you ask or how you define the band.

They had a different singer, different bass player, and a different second guitar player also. It was kind of a different band basically.

There was some albums with a different line-up, so it kind of depends on how you count the whole discography. Do you count the live albums also?

Or do you count all the Destruction albums? For a band to come back to its roots after nearly a decade away seems unlikely. How did Destruction pull it back together?

I basically got fired back in the 90s, so if somebody gets fired you cannot just go back to the band.

There was a lot of complications. The more touring and the more record sales and the crazier schedules, we have had in the last years. The metal scene is not as big as it is in other countries.

A lot of kids are listening to thrash again, which of course made it easier for us to finally come back. They are all very friendly and open, and we met a lot of great fans.

We went to high school together so we have known each other for a long time, and through that our writing has evolved. It now stands that we write songs where the verses and choruses are already written before anything else is allowed to flow.

Our songwriting has grown a lot. We have diverse tastes ourselves, but together it pretty much covers everything. From growing up together we have developed this intuition that allows us to bring all of that together and make it work in a way that makes sense to us.

By having the same tastes, you potentially create limitations on what you know and are capable of doing. This fact makes for interesting situations.

We did the recording at the Old Museum over four days, which was all the parts — bass, drums, guitar, harmonica, all the various instruments. We then did the vocals and strings over the course of two months, just whenever we could fit it in.

We were going to do it all ourselves, but we ended up going the complete other way. And these were pretty adept musicians, so we could lay the track down, hit record and let them improvise over the top of it.

This show will be their last before they make their way to Melbourne to play a residency, after which they will be laying down some tentative roots.

It feels like the right thing to do. Some of us have plans to move back after the New Year, after a couple of months, and a couple of us have plans to stay.

Unfortunately, we have to wait until March to hear it. A complete artistic package in the purest sense, everything is made to stimulate various senses.

Think suicidal flirtations, exotic Indonesian dancing and some hostage style rock. The way the music and visuals concurrently attack your senses is completely other-worldly and a stirring revelation in a contemporary world.

We figured that would be a good way to get at least something out this year and then start next year with a bang with the album. I was lucky to know all these guys and they are all amazing musicians, so it worked out really well.

Most of the bands that got me into making music in the first place would be described as cult or niche bands, and logically we have followed that same trajectory.

Yet we all come from such varying trajectories — if you did a Venn diagram it would make for incredible reading. Good Grief is the first of five seven-inch singles she plans on releasing over the next 18 months.

Bring on the next four. I Feel Better is the fake Motown sounding track from the album, one of the more adventurous numbers, but not with the same kind of immediacy as Somebody That I Used To Know, a track which is absolutely deserving of its place as one of the biggest tracks of the year.

Where do you even start? Guests of this calibre abound — Flea, Les Claypool, Marc Ribot et al — but none of them even come close to outshining the tousled old troubadour as he sets about his business with consummate flair.

Waits flits between moods and headspaces like a chameleon but things never seem disjointed, long part of his magic. The old master has done it again Their new single The War In Me is highly polished, especially by the standards and budget of your standard indie band, thanks to the good work of Sydney producer Matt Fell and his awesomely named Love HZ studio.

Sisters Adriana and Nadija have been playing throughout the country for the better part of a decade, and with new album Young Heart due for a release early next year, expect to hear more of their earthy countrytinged, delicate pop in the not too distant future.

The Velvet Fucking Underground. The record combines an unmistakable commitment to progressive musicianship with insightful, complex lyricism and elegant vocal lines to create something truly unique.

From the first to the final songs of the track record, Jinja Safari consistently showcases a talent and maturity that defy their relative inexperience.

Sunken House immediately introduces their upbeat sound and offers some fine examples of impressive lyricism.

Hiccups somehow lacks the certainty of the opening tracks, but this is quickly reclaimed in Peter Pan and Moonchild.

Towards the middle of the record we witness the introduction of a new feel, embodied by tracks such as Head In A Blender.

The pace picks up again with Errol Flynn, a fast-paced, optimistic track that is catchy and complex in equal parts.

When Melbourne act St Helens called it quits in , it seemed a premature end to a young, inventive band just discovering their innate powers.

Lead Jarrod Quarrell thought so too, thus ventured out into the sonic wilderness to return as Lost Animal, with a debut LP Ex Tropical clutched in his fevered hand.

Intro Beat Goes On opens the album and seems the fitting way in which to acknowledge the past and yet proclaim the new era.

With just the right balance of wistfulness and whimsy, Quarrell states his intent from the onset. Buai Raskol offers a calypso beat, jazz undertones and a breathy staccato vocal that is sinuous and suggestive of late nights in surrealist, velvet-walled bars whose existence are never truly accepted.

Old Lovers is a grin-inducing pop song, whilst Lose The Baby adds an urgency that adds gravitas to the bluster. There are moodier numbers, such as the title track and Sundown, yet their inclusion only augments the inherent groove that pervades the album.

Musical interplay is integral on Ex Tropical, with extensive use of marimba, brass, xylophone and percussion a staple of Sensory Projects bands.

Quarrell marches to his own beat, and Ex Tropical is a boisterous display that brims with confidence and exuberance.

Alice B Toklas has guitarist Brian Mann channelling Mark Knopfler bizarre but true and makes references to both The Witches Of Eastwick and psych rock god Roky Erickson, and is a kick arse number to mark the hump of the album.

Having refined his trademark sound into a tighter and more direct form, this record often lacks the breathing space that was given throughout his past two albums.

A nostalgic disposition is more pronounced here, and while notions of past and memory are both generally associated with a sense of spatial slowness, there ironically seems to be a faster-paced urgency which simply demands greater recognition of its presence.

This song collection begins with the titular track — a simple, mid-tempo number with a singalong chorus and well-placed vocal harmonies.

On Radiosurgery, New Found Glory have managed to revisit their original influences without turning in an album that sounds tired and old.

Pot Or Pills, Clapping Song feat, Colin Locker Kid and Beware are certainly nothing to scoff at, yet the proximate-familiarity of each song on the first half of the album affects less excitement than expectations warrant.

Luckily Prince Of Cool feat. Jane Doe steps in, with some retro cosmic-vibes, to signal a more adventurous second half. And from there on the likes of The Popcorns feat.

Anticipation is always going to be high after such a long gab between albums, and although Deep Impressions may not hurdle above the extremely high bars set by its predecessors, it really is quite a fine record on its own merit.

The intensely busy Running By The Rock has Lang laying down his cards early, rhythmically complex and, from a guitar standpoint, jawdroppingly freakish, it seems Lang needed to get this grandiose number out of his system.

Conversely Jack-A-Roe and Newbridge see Lang drawing things out, the lyrics and sonic subtleties working together to render the songs completely gripping.

But, after a couple of decades hard at it, Jeff Lang can still impress; Carried In Mind is perfect proof. Once renowned for the meticulous detail of both his soundscapes and field recordings, recent years have found the Brisbane composer gravitating more towards the open brushstrokes of distortion and drone.

The Peregrine is very much a part of that trajectory. A conceptual piece composed in homage to J. One can detect hints of instrumentation and concrete sound in the mix at times but, for the most part, the record remains swathed in distortion.

Seriously earnest in name and nature, Kings Canyon should come with a disclaimer warning of the huge burst of concentrated emotion contained within.

A listener will find themselves compelled to revisit The Peregrine not just to understand it but to re-capture the simple, transcendental joy of listening to it for the first time.

The touring list — playing alongside the likes of Dutch punk iconoclast The Ex, warped soundscaper Sun Araw and noise terrorists Action Beat — only heightens this notion.

And so it is with the album, ten tracks of sounds infused with world-beat appropriations, effusive and spiky vocalisations from guitarist Kushal Gaya and enough ideas to inform a decade of music, let alone a single album.

To be honest, Katang sounds like Merrill Garbus re-recording her whokill album as a collaborative effort with the boys from Battles and main Talking Head David Byrne.

Gem tac looks like elmers glue, no odor, takes longer to set and stones can come off when the garment is washed, but just don't soak the dress for a long time and you should be fine.

Colors and designs depend on your child. Mainly stay away from any color that looks like it belongs on curtains or a couch!

Pastels and bright colors, white or anything pretty is good. Muted colors like mauve, taupe, brown stay away from.

Black and red don't work on everyone so use it at your own risk. I have seen some amazing dresses in those colors, but it just depends on your child's coloring and personality.

Linda [ Edit View ]. Many of the designers use them. The website is hard to manuver but the phone number is there and if you ask for the mail order department they will help you match things up.

They have most of the popular colors in organza and if you ask they will match up linings for you. They also have super stretch. They don't take pay pal.

I went there one time and OMG you should see the beautiful laces and things they have. Most are not even on their website.

I was mad because I couldn't afford to buy much. They have several floors. It's a designers dream store. Now I'm giving out secrets that aren't suppost to be told.

They are super sweet. They do take paypal from what I remember I think I used paypal even when I went to the store in person.

They are super sweet and if you need superstretch in any color they have. Literarlly they have an easy 45 colors. If you need organza to match the superstretch there is also Best Fabrics on Harry Hines.

Both of these stores have their own fabric fabrication stores so they can keep their costs down. Between the two there are about 20 stores that sell already dyed lace to match LOL.

Since it is a banner I would recommend a light weight interfacing. How do I cut it? I know it's various sizes, but how do I do it?

I get what you're saying that "designers" have to deal with all the selling and stuff like that, but everybody has to deal with that.

It's not only them. They weren't forced into the business so when they entered the business they KNEW it was going to be hard work.

How is telling somebody to post a banner on a pageant board hard work? How is getting the word out there, that your stuff is for sale hard work? They're big name designers, they don't need the help as soon as they have stuff for sale people come running to buy.

They don't post the ads anyway, others do. How is choosing what color for a dress you want hard work? How is putting stones on a dress hard work?

My 10 yr old does that all the time. I'll give you one thing dealing with moms is hard, but ,as I said earlier, nobody forced you into this.

It's not rocket science. Help isn't bad, but claiming other people's work as your own is wrong and also misleading to your customers as well.

Teresa Mallouky and the lady from Cinderella fashions must be magical. As far as I'm concerned they are the only people I know that make their own clothes AND they are big name designers.

Seriously, if you want to be a designers that's fine, but at least make your own clothes. She uses seamstresses too. She sews some things but not alot.

Teresa is not the only employee of Lil Louky's Designs. Cinderella Fashions is not one employee, Rena does sew most of her garments but does have help from others that rhinestone and sew her skirts for her.

Like I said, you can't do it all by yourself and be a big named designer. There are no big named designers that do not have help from someone. You have to look like this way, the name is the business and the business as a whole gets the credit not an individual person.

You can be a low key designer that builds a decent clientel and does it all. Even low key designers are sometimes overwhelmed with work and ask others for help.

Not having to deal with paypal and moms is trade enough for me to not get credit for work. I don't care if you are the big thing out there, you still have to.

My grandmother made pageant attire. On average she would get 30 orders per month. She did it all herself the sewing, stoning, etc.

And also, when sewing with organza, when i do the rolled hem with fishing line, you can just pull it apart. And i did an underskirt for just a regular cotton skirt, rectangle instead of circle and the seams sewn together, just rip apart.

I ask them if they had anyone that would make childrens suits. The gave me a number of a lady named Myrna. I was over booked so I asked her to make some suits for me.

I ordered them but didn't like the way the butt came up over the cheeks. Your gonna love this one! I gave her name to Tina Marshall and she ordered some, she wasn't into the swimwear that much at the time so she was friends with Sandy Henry and Sandy needed to make some money so Tina gave her Myrnas number and Sandy has been using her every since.

Sandy really started making some big money so now Tina has trouble getting very many orders from Myrna.

I think Myrna's prices have went up since then, but not that much. I will tell you this, you are selling yourself short. Your suits are way too cute to sell them for that price.

They have people sew for them at a very cheap price and they throw stones on them and sell them for the big bucks. I know because I sewed for Michael and Tinas children before they became big name designers.

I sewed for Carolyn Kieser untill 2 years ago. I sewed for Tina Marshall untill a year ago. I have made plenty of money for them.

Everyone of us who sew for them are actually ruining it for the real designer out there to make decent money on their things. Without someome sewing for them, they wouldn't have a business.

The problem is that someone will always sew for them to make the money. They also have coaches pushing their work because the coaches get free clothes from them and I know this for sure because I sewed many things for a coach that pushes one of them.

This so call designer also has a big time pageant director who pushes her things.
